Use a Full Body Cleanse for Overall Health Benefits

FAT LOSS

So you’ve decided to get in shape and lose that abdominal fat. Good for you. Then you’ll need to do countless sets of 50 or 100-rep crunches and sit-ups, right? Wrong. You’ll need a different approach if you’re serious about fat loss.

First, there’s no such thing as spot reduction. In order to get rid of fat in any one area of your body, you have to lose it all over. And all those crunches and sit-ups won’t do it.

Instead, you need to do the large, compound, (preferably full-body) exercises like squats, deadlifts, and power cleans that burn body fat. Just make sure you get a good trainer or experienced workout partner to show you how to do them properly. These are the exercises that produce fat loss results because they rev up your metabolism (for up to 48 hours after your workout has ended) and promote the production of growth hormone. These exercises are the most effective at helping you shed fat all over—which, of course, means you also lose it in your target area.

We also now know that simply inducing a caloric deficit into your diet isn’t enough for fat loss. This is due to the accumulated toxins in your body. Your body tries to “dilute” those toxins and keep them away from vital organs by storing them in your fat cells. Your body will actually put on more fat to achieve this goal. So if you really want to shed that fat, not only do you need the right approach to exercise, you’ll also need to use a quality body cleanse program to detoxify.

STRESS BUSTER14

Stressful situations are unavoidable, but the way your body responds to those situations can be controlled to some degree. And by controlling stress you can avoid the health problems associate with long-term and excessive activation of the stress response.

Whenever you face a perceived threatening situation, you body responds involuntarily. The primary part of that response occurs when your brain sends signals to your adrenal glands to produce the hormones that prepare you to fight or run for your life. Your body, however, doesn’t distinguish between physical and psychological threats. That’s why most of us suffer a series of stress responses every day—which further unbalances hormones and exacerbates the response and, in the long run, often leads to health issues.

Further contributing to the problem is the fact that neural impediments in the spine can foul up the stress signals sent by the brain. This, however, is a problem that chiropractic care can ameliorate. Respected chiropractor Dr. Jeremy Webster contends that “If your spine is not moving through its normal range of motion, that’s another thing that will ramp up the stress response. Your stress response will be abnormally high when your spine is ‘stuck,’ fixated or subluxated . . . That’s why a chiropractic adjustment can relieve stress and all other things that go along with stress such as [high] blood pressure.”

Poor diet can also contribute to an abnormal stress response and can sometimes, in itself, be a source of stress. Dr. Webster states that “If you eat foods that are devoid of things like magnesium—or if you’re low in magnesium and calcium and potassium— you can’t relax. It’s just like ramping up the stress response.”

In addition, the toxin-laden foods most of us eat every day elevate the stress response and contribute to the ill health effects. These toxins accumulate in your liver and fat cells and disrupt the normal response. A viable solution here is a nutritional program that also includes a whole body cleanse.

VITAMIN ABSORPTION

Several fairly recent studies claim that vitamin/ mineral supplements are next to worthless. It’s possible, though, that those studies were flawed and the people in the studies needed a good body cleanse first.

Consider, for example, vitamin B12, the vitamin for energy. It plays an important role in the formation of red blood cells, proper neurologic function, DNA synthesis, a strong immune system, clearing thinking, and proper sexual function. The problem is that even if you’re getting extra B12 in the form of supplements, you still may not be getting enough.

There are all kinds of substances (many you would never think of) that can interfere with B12 absorption. We all know about alcohol, but did you also know that many common, often nonprescription, medications can interfere with B12 absorption? Some of the worst are the much-used treatments for heartburn and ulcers, including Tagamet, Maalox, Mylanta, and even Tums.

But even if you’re not taking any of these medications, you still may not be getting sufficient B12. If you don’t detoxify your body at regular intervals, the accumulating toxins in your body will impede the absorption of B12, thus nearly nullifying your supplementation efforts. And don’t doubt that these toxins are building up in your body. They are ubiquitous, and you’re exposed to them everywhere you go and in almost everything you eat. So, in order to get enough of the nutrients you need, you should both supplement and detoxify.
