So, you think you need to be awake to lose weight? Good news, you don’t! Yes, weight loss involves eating a healthy diet and burning off more calories than you ate, but that doesn’t mean you can only do so in a gym!

In this post, we’re going to give you 5 essential weight loss tips, some of which you can even do in your sleep!

Tip 1: Develop the Right Mindset to Lose Weight

When talking about weight loss, restrictive dieting and punishing workout routines automatically come to mind. A lot of people become discouraged even before starting their journey because of how daunting it seems. But people’s normal ideas for weight loss are not the be-all end-all.

Everybody wants fast weight loss. While it isn’t impossible, developing the right mindset is essential in getting to your goal weight and keeping the excess weight off. Think of this as a long-term journey with a smattering of checkpoints.

The best starting point is recognizing that the end goal of losing weight is improving your health. While a hot body can serve as a huge motivator, getting there while sacrificing things inside your body, feeling restricted from having fun makes it pretty pointless, doesn’t it? What are you going to do with a size 2 body when your internal organs are literally dying inside?

Before embarking on a weight loss regimen, identify your “why” before you condition yourself to go the distance. once your Why in achieving this goal is big enough, you’re most likely to succeed. Reading fitness books like the ones included in our 21-day full body cleanse system will help you build the correct mindset that will see you through to the finish line.

Tip 2: Put Together an Effective Weight Loss Diet

While going on a low calorie diet is the most common option for a quick weight loss diet, it doesn’t result in sustained weight loss and contributes to yet another let down in a yoyo diet pattern. A low calorie diet doesn’t give you the right amount of nutrients to keep you from craving carbs or over eating. It also makes you feel so deprived. So, after a while, you’d have to go back to “normal” eating, and that brings you back to square one.

The best diet for many to keep the pounds off is one that’s high protein low carb. There is strong research showing the health benefits and fast fat loss while on a Keto diet high in (healthy) fat (70%), moderate protein (20%), and then low carb (10%) is even easier to stick with. It’s an easy diet to follow with keto-friendly food readily available everywhere.

If you’re going to follow this menu diet, here are the foods to eat to lose weight:

  • Healthy fats like avocados, almonds, walnuts, salmon, tuna, and mackerel. No fried foods.
  • High-fiber green leafy vegetables like kale, lettuce, and broccoli

Even if you’re not a whiz in the kitchen, you can definitely whip up a healthy diet meal plan using our program’s FREE video and e-book recipes.

What to Avoid Eating

First of all, how will you burn fat while sleeping if you can’t even fall asleep? We’ve talked about which food to eat to induce good sleep. Here are the ones you need to keep out of your dinner plate if not following the Keto diet:

  • Meat
  • Caffeinated beverages
  • Sugar-filled beverages
  • Sweets
  • Carbohydrates

You should also avoid eating dairy, as those have a high fat and super low dietary fiber. Not to mention that dairy products (particularly milk) contain lactose, which is basically sugar.

Also, note that it’s not only about avoiding eating certain things that will help you fall asleep. You also need to time your meal correctly, at least 4 hours before bed or at least make sure to eat during daylight hours only, to be able to sleep soundly. Otherwise, your body would have to put a lot of effort into digesting, which wouldn’t give you much rest and adversely affecting your health and organs since eating late in particular during dark hours forces your organs to work at their optimal levels which they weren’t designed for.

What to Drink

If you want to lose weight, drink green tea every day! This magnificent beverage has two awesome components that help you lose fat.

First, it has caffeine, which isn’t great for sleeping (so make sure to drink green tea at least 6-8 hours before bedtime), but is actually a stimulant that increases your metabolism temporarily and negates adverse effects from caffeine due to the high anti- oxidants (called EGCG) in green tea.  EGCG catechin also boosts metabolism and lends a hand in the production of norepinephrine. It’s a hormone that aids in breaking down fat cells.

Our 21-day organic full body cleanse includes 30 days’ worth of professional grade supplements, one of which is made using green tea catechins.

Tip 3: How Often to Exercise

Good news, bad news scenario. The bad news is you have to exercise every single day. 30 minutes of intense elevated heart rate each day is what it takes to maintain good health.  The good news is once you’re reached your goal you can back off to fie days since it’s easier to maintain. However, if you want to tip the scales backward, you need to push yourself. Keep this in mind. If you put 60% effort you cannot expect 100% of the results. It’s up to you.

If you don’t have time (or funds) to join a gym, this doesn’t give you an excuse to not get a workout in. You can do tons of strength training exercises right in your own room! These exercises will strengthen your muscles, which will help improve your metabolism since muscles burn more calories than fat.

Track Your Weight

How will you know if you’re making progress if you’re not tracking your weight? Of course, it’s also important to not let the scales dictate your life, but knowing where you are in your journey is equally as important.

To give you the whole picture though, also track your size. It’s not what you weight, it’s where you weight that counts when it comes to  health. Changes in your body shape is a great indicator of your progress. The scales may keep silent but clothes’ fitting better says a lot.

Tip 4: Get Enough Sleep

We’ve mentioned time and again how important sleep is for your overall health. If you don’t get enough quality sleep, you’re body is going to be out of whack. Constant sleep loss makes your body produce more of the hormone cortisol, which is a stress hormone, and it makes your body preserve fat cells. Stress is a toxin as well!

Here’s something that will encourage you to get your needed dose of Zs: Did you know that you actually burn calories while you sleep?

It all depends on your basal metabolic rate. Depending on your gender, age, height, and physical activity level, your body burns a certain number of calories when at rest or asleep. You can check out how to compute for that here.

As an example, if you’re a 30-year-old female who’s 200lbs. and stands 5’5 tall, you’ll burn around 1,740 calories a day or 72 calories per hour. If you sleep deeply for 8 hours, then you get rid of 576 calories while snoozing!

Tip 5: How to Avoid Digestion Disorders and Detox Your Body

One way to avoid developing digestion problems is eating a lot of high-fiber foods. We talked about this in our previous post about preventing constipation. Having enough and the right dietary fiber in your diet doesn’t only make toilet time easy, it also promotes a healthy gut.

Another way to have a healthy digestive system is to detox your body regularly. Stress and other environmental factors can make toxins accumulate in your body, all hidden away in the fat cells that you have yet to get rid off. The more excess fat you have, the more toxic you are likely to be.

Detoxing gives your body the chance to do a bit of spring cleaning and recalibrating to ensure that your systems are all working in tip top shape. It also readies your body to receive and put to good use all the nutritious food you’re going to eat.

To help your body’s natural detox system do a better job, clear your detox pathways manually by going on a detox cleanse like our 21-day organic full body cleanse. You’ll get access to expert support 7 days a week to guide you fully through your journey to a hot bod and kickass good health!
